Jumpstart
The dreambuilders team is a team of inspirers which has a passion to see the young people of our country dreaming big and finding their place of most potential. The dilemma that many matriculants find themselves in is having a high school qualification, a lack of understanding of the working world as well as a lack of accountability for their own lives.
The Jumpstart programme is offered by the Institute of dreambuilders. It is a programme that aims to assist matriculated unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 25 to understand that they have potential and to understand the importance of taking accountability for their lives. Many of these delegates leave the programme inspired and ready to make a difference not only for their own lives but in whatever situation they find themselves in.
The programme addresses social attitudes and stereotypes and negative mindsets. It seeks to build confidence, self worth and encourages delegates to think about their life purpose, their ambitions and dreams. The Jumpstart programme operates on the premise that if you have the right mindset and attitude you will discover your will and potential to reach your dreams, rather than be overwhelmed by hopelessness and a negative attitude.
In essence the programme addresses the following
- A lack of personal development and personal vision
- A lack of leadership in the community
- A lack of personal accountability, critical thinking skills and problem solving.
- Addressing the challenge of a poor self esteem, self image and discovering one’s potential.
The programme operates in the some of the under served areas in the country, characterized by a lack of resources.
We have been working in partnership with the Redcap Foundation (Mr Price youth foundation) for the last 3 years, as a result, after the four day session with Dreambuilders, the delegates are placed in a Mr Price store where they receive 5 ½ days work experience. Once they have completed this work experience they are offered an employment opportunity in the store in which they received training. This is dependent on their performance at the store and need for casuals in the store at that time.
Our dream is to see many of the delegates that have been exposed to the powerful concepts of the Jumpstart programme find exposure to sectors which are aligned with their capabilities. In this regard we are constantly seeking partners who will be able to assist these young people acquire the skills necessary and secondly offer work experience opportunities such as those offered by the RedCap Foundation in other sectors.
